Private Branch Exchanges (PBX) are customer-owned communication systems used to connect customer telephones (and related equipment) to the central office lines (trunks), and to switch internal calls within the customer's telephone system. PBXs offer numerous software-controlled features such as Call Forwarding and Call Pickup. A PBX uses technology similar to that used by a central office switch (on a smaller scale).

Iowa Telecom is an authorized distributor for Nortel Networks and we proudly offer the Meridian 1 PBX system for organizations requiring 30 to 10,000 telephones. The Meridian 1 series is comprised of three models: 

  • Option 11C (30 to 700 ports)
  • Option 61C (300 to 2,000 ports, redundant processors)
  • Option 81C (1,500 to 10,000 ports, redundant processors)

Circuitry and telephone sets easily migrate from the smallest model to the largest. Installation and maintenance services are available in all Iowa Telecom service areas.
